Poetry prompt 48: Ding dong! The witch is dead

Ding dong! The witch is dead is what I said when a housemate left,
Ding dong! The wicked witch is dead.

I said it out loud.
I said it to her friend.

Ding dong! The wicked witch is dead.

It’s a shame I chose this line
‘cos with it strings this beastly rhyme.

Ding dong! The wicked witch is dead.

Simple thoughts that sound quite clever
are the cruellest words that sever.

Ding dong! The wicked witch is dead.

In a concert, I saw them together,
many years later, it wasn’t a pleasure.

Ding dong! The wicked witch is dead.

Words are like knives, if you slice with precision;
don’t be a jackass, don’t make my decision.

Ding dong! The wicked witch is dead.

(This was written for a challenge set by Pooky’s Poems.)
